I’ve been a little behind on posting music from the Ninas, but they got a new video for their lead single from The Other Side (EP). What’s ill about this is that the dude who directed this (Treezy)helped us on Nickelus F’s “Nurp!/Toast & Jelly” backin 2005…. Now he’s doing videos for my favorite twins from my hometown… What a great look! Treezy if you read this holla at me! Nick’s got some shit poppin’ right now!

Anyways… The video is very dope. And as usually the Ninas are holding it down!

Download/Listen: Top Quality – Magnum Opus

This reminds me of Summer and I’ve been diggin’ in the crates for shit lately, so this jawn stuck out like crazy to me. Honestly Top Quality like many other early to mid-90’s rappers wasn’t talking about much, but the hook and title “Magnum Opus” sounds so EPIC! Shout out to Top Quality & PMD for making a classic!

LOVE IT! So I will have to pay homage.

After 05.31.2010’s Season Premiere I’m going to be so back on my writing game….

One of my favorite songs off of Alicia’s last album and the video made me love it even more.

Watch it and tell me what you think. It kind of leaves you hanging at the end because the message to the video is that “LOVE” should concur all, but at what cost?

What are you willing to risk to be with the one you love (no matter who they are or what they are…)?

I’ve been there and I was willing to go all in for it (even though I was dead wrong about my feelings). Really the video has a message for those of us who actually have faith in what taking a chance on something potentially meaningful can mean to us. It’s for people who still believe in real love and the power of it. It’s for people who aren’t afraid of what “they” have to say about it.

I think the end of the video is fitting as well. It leaves the viewer with the power to make up their own minds about what Alicia should have done…

And I think if I were in that position I would have done the Un-Thinkable…

M.I.A has been one of my favorites since I discovered her in about 2002. I Didn’t appreciate her for real until 2006-2007… Of course off her “Paper Planes” single. Now she’s a momma and mega-rich off one song and decides to comeback with a hard-rock/hip-hop/noise garden of a song with an ultra-violent video that promotes the murder of Ginger Kids and the beating of really fat old people. I LOVE IT! 😉

Real talk though the video is pretty interesting and kind reminds me that art… Well art is pretty much what the artist  wants it to be (even when it has nothing to do with the song in the case of a music video like this). Can’t go wrong with that excuse when it comes to fuckery like this. “Born Free” was directed by Romain-Gavras, who I’m hearing is notorious for ultra-violent music videos. I’m going to check more of his work out ASAP!.

Any hoots, enjoy this one. It’s a pretty dope video if you can stand red headed kids getting blown to bits and old naked fat people getting beaten with batons. (._.)
